Abstract

Breast cancer is the most prevalent type of cancer in Indonesia. Based on an initial survey and the 2024 Performance Report of the Padang City Health Office, 31.59% of the population of Padang City was reported to suffer from breast cancer. This condition highlights the importance of increasing public knowledge regarding breast cancer risk factors, medication use, and early prevention. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of members of the Majlis Taklim at Al Hijrah Mosque, Wisma Bumi Lestari Indah, Korong Gadang Subdistrict, Kuranji District, Padang City, regarding breast cancer. The activity used a pre-test and post-test design. Participants completed a questionnaire as a pre-test before receiving counseling and leaflets containing information about breast cancer, including risk factors, medication management, and early prevention. After the intervention, participants completed the questionnaire again as a post-test. The data were analyzed using a dependent t-test. The results showed a p-value < 0.05, indicating a significant difference in participants' knowledge before and after the counseling and leaflet distribution. Therefore, counseling and leaflet distribution regarding breast cancer among the Majlis Taklim members at Al Hijrah Mosque, Padang City, were effective in increasing public knowledge about breast cancer risk factors, medication use, and early prevention.
